Do You Recognize if You’re Having a God Dream?

  • by

How do we know if a dream is a God dream?

Ever have a dream that you thought was significant, but didn’t know if it was from God or from you’re own imagination? There are some very practical steps we can take to search this out as is shown in 2 Per 1:19. Let’s look to our user guid: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth (BIBLE)!

We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:19

  1. If the dream is a God dream, then it will bring light to a dark place until a new day dawns for us in this area and the morning star, Christ himself rises in our hearts. Simply put this means that an idea, situation, person or event that concerns us will be illuminated in such a way that we’ll see the situation in a new light that we had not perceived before.
  2. When we perceive things in a new light, we ultimately experience breakthrough; the dawning of a new day. God dreams don’t just highlight issues on God’s heart and sheds a fresh light of revelation on them, they do so in such a way that it allows us to understand and practically we begin to move forward in what God has for us in this new area.
  3. Ultimately God dreams bring us back to the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus, who is the bright morning star (Rev 22:16) arises in our hearts as our source, our place of affection, the solid rock on which we stand and when this happens as a result of our dreams, then the morning star, Jesus has arisen as our compass and guide.

What kind of Messages can we get in God dreams?

  • Sometimes God will highlight an area of our life that we have not been paying attention to, or are unaware of and in so doing we will be freed up to pursue the next level of seeing the goodness of God manifest in our lives in this area.
  • Sometimes there can be a hidden bondage or oppression in our lives holding us back from God’s best for us. In love and with gentleness God desires to bring a course correction so that we can be released into a new level of freedom.
  • Sometimes God simply wants to reaffirm his love for us by bringing fresh light into the enormity of the love he has for us as his child and the acceptance we receive through the price he paid on the cross.
  • Sometimes God desires to bring the knowledge of his will into the arena’s of our sphere’s of influence resulting in providing third heaven solutions to first heaven problems, meaning real answers to world problems.
  • Sometimes God wants to provide answers to questions or desires of our heart.

In all of these situations and in so many more God can shine light into the dark places of our lives by sharing his will for our life as well as his will for the things and people around us. In so doing He brings about the dawning of a fresh, new day and we increase in faith as the morning star, Christ himself rises in our hearts.

Things to do this week…

1. Think through the dreams you have had and ask God to highlight any of them to you that are God dreams.

2. Once you’ve identified a God dream, bring it back to God to see if there’s anything you need to do, to bring its purpose to full completion. James 2:26 says…For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead. In the same way, it’s not enough that we recognize that we’ve had a God dream. We need to apply practical action to that dream so that our faith will come alive as well!

3. Thank God for the dreams you’ve had, then ask Him to take to take your dreaming to the next level! If you’re not much of a dreamer, but want to be, then tell talk to God about it. He loves to satisfies our desires with good things. Psalm 103:5.

Remember that dreaming is just one of many ways that we hear the voice of God and we’re always looking to expand and increase our hearing muscles in all the various different ways. There will always be one or two ways that come more naturally too us, but if we only use the ways we’re most comfortable with, then we’re like the guy in the gym that only works out his upper-body, but then has chicken legs! Don’t be a chicken-leg body in the Spirit!

Go with God,

David Sr.
